READYremove™ Wood Stripper
Step-by-Step Instructions
DESCRIPTION
READYremove™ Wood Stripper is a water-based, highly alkaline formula for use on all types of pressure-treated wood and other woods such as redwood or cedar. READYremove will dissolve and remove multiple coats of solid and semi-transparent stains, paints, clear finishes, as well as oil-based and weathered latex coatings. READYremove is ideal for stripping decks, fences, wood siding, outdoor wood furniture, wood play sets, and any other exterior wood surface. READYremove can also be used on wood/plastic composite decking materials.
PREPARATION
Before applying READYremove, dampen surface liberally with water. Protect any surface that will not be stripped, especially aluminum. Pre-wet grass and plants before covering with plastic, and then flush with water after stripping is completed. Protect all adjacent areas from rinse water. Always pre-test in an inconspicuous area to determine if desired results can be achieved. USE CAUTION WHEN OPENING. Open container slowly with the lid away from face, and always close after use. Use in a ventilated area. For best results, use when outdoor temperature is above 50°F. Do not mix with bleach.
APPLICATION
Apply a liberal coat to surface in uniform direction, using a synthetic brush, roller, or chemical-resistant sprayer. For siding, use a synthetic brush or a deep nap roller, working from the bottom up. Maintain wetness, allowing for a 10 – 15 minutes dwell time; do not allow READYremove to dry on surface. If stripper solution has dried, reapply more product. A second application may be necessary for stubborn stains. For large projects, applying in sections may help manage wetness and proper dwell time. To remove loosened finish, rinse thoroughly with a pressure washer, spraying in the direction of the wood grain, using the lowest pressure and largest tip size that will effectively clean the surface. For soft wood, do not set psi above 1000. If rinsing with a garden hose, agitate the loosened finish first with a synthetic, stiff-bristle brush before rinsing well with water. Repeat steps on trouble spots until original wood is visible. For the toughest jobs, using READYremove at full strength may be necessary for desired results; apply direct from the container using a brush, roller, or pump sprayer. Use open container within 6 months.
NEUTRALIZATION
Once stripping is complete, use READYbright™ Wood Brightener to neutralize surface and remove tannins that may appear after stripping. READYbright will restore the wood’s natural color and normalize pH levels. Always allow wood to dry thoroughly (12% moisture or less) before applying READY SEAL® Exterior Wood Stain.
